This page contains some of the most common questions we are asked about our products and the usage of our products. If you have a question that isn't covered here, please visit the Contact Us page.

Can I purchase drug tests for use on myself or my children?

In conformance with FDA regulations, our drug tests are not available for sale except to companies, organizations, and health professionals. All of our products are FDA cleared where necessary.

What does a positive result look like?

A positive result is indicated when there is a line in the control or "C" zone of the test, but absolutely no line whatsoever in the testing or "T" zone. For more information download the "Reading an On-Site Test/Initial vs. Confirmatory Cutoff Levels" PDF from the Tech Support page.

What does a negative result look like?

A negative result is represented by a line in the control or "C" zone and a line in the testing or "T" zone.

What if the line in the "T" zone is really faint?

ANY line at all in the "T" zone should be considered a negative result. The test is not designed to give anything but a yes or no answer. (A light test line does not indicate that the person may have done a "little bit" of the drug.)

How long do I have to wait before I read the test results?

Negative results can be interpreted as soon as both lines have appeared. You should wait five minutes to allow the test to develop before reading positive results. Results can be read for up to 8 hours after beginning the testing procedure.

How long will someone test positive after using a drug?

MOST drugs will clear out of the system after a few days. Notable exceptions are PCP and Marijuana (THC), which can show up in the urine of chronic users for weeks after use is discontinued. The drug info page has more details.

What about using herbal preparations to flush drug residue out of the system?

It seems that most of these preparations are only as effective as the large amounts of water that they are supposed to be taken with. If they "work," it's probably due to the user not knowing that the drug was already out of their system. If they do not work, the user would have to admit to use of an illegal substance to take advantage of any money-back guarantee.

What if something is added to the urine sample to "confuse" the test?

There are many substances that people attempt to add to urine in hopes of passing a drug test. Some of these are urban legends, but there are some substances (and some commercially available products) that can interfere with drug testing. Urine tampering can be detected using adulterant tests.

Are there any legal medications that can trigger positive results?

Yes. For example, someone might be prescribed codeine as a painkiller. This could set off the opiate test. Amphetamines may be present in some inhalers or in medications for ADD.

A urine sample that tested positive with an on-site test came back as negative after I sent it to the lab!

Keep in mind that our tests are drug SCREENS, and to be used for preliminary testing only. Our tests are designed to reduce the number of samples you have to send in to the lab for confirmation. There are several reasons a lab might disagree with a preliminary test result: the lab may be testing for a different amount, or a very specific form of the drug being tested for. The urine sample sent to the lab might not be the same one that was pre-tested - check your own internal procedures.

My drug test kits aren't working!

First, double-check the instructions included with your tests to make sure you are performing them correctly. Check to make sure the tests are not being stored in an area that is too hot. Also check the expiration date printed on the test pouch. If you are still having difficulties, please contact us.

How do I set up a drug testing policy for my company or organization?

The laws and regulations on drug testing vary depending on your location and the type of testing you are performing. Your best resource is the DTState Laws website. Their site provides a wealth of information for an annual subscription fee.

Do you have saliva drug tests available?

At this time we are still waiting for a fully cleared and accepted product to become available. Many "FDA Cleared" saliva drug tests are cleared for use with urine, not saliva. If you absolutely require saliva testing for your organization, please contact us for more information.
